Chicago Downtown Hotels | Part 1: Hampton Inn & Suites

In this series:   Waldorf Astoria | The Four Seasons | Trump Towers | Sofitel Chicago Water Tower

Recently I had the opportunity to experience a site inspection of several properties in downtown Chicago with two other agents, Olga Shtern and  Tina Romano who are new to the industry.  Since none of us had toured a hotel through the eyes of a travel consultant, it was a very exciting and speculative time.  Armed with notebooks, lists of questions and a camera, we descended upon the hotels with wide-eyed enthusiasm.

The first property that we visited was the Hampton Inn and Suites in downtown Chicago.  Located right in the heart of the city, this location is perfect for leisure and business travelers alike.  Recently renovated in 2010, the hotel has a number of thoughtful additions to accommodate clients including complimentary wifi and free breakfast.  Additionally, the heated indoor pool, exercise facilities and coffee/tea station are all available 24 hours a day.

Just outside the pool and exercise area is a spacious terrace with room to sit, relax and enjoy the fresh air which was a real treat on a warm summer day.  Granted, not every day in Chicago is as mild and enjoyable so thankfully this hotel took that into account when developing the dining facilities available to guests.   In addition to the in-room dining and the enticing Italian fare at Rosebud in the lobby, they have built a sky bridge directly to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse.  A visit to an iconic steakhouse is a must for any carnivorous Chicago-bound traveler, and those staying at the Hampton need not worry about bundling up in those cold winter months.

After a full day of sightseeing and a hearty dinner, guests can retire to a light, airy room and rest easy knowing that the hotel participates in their clean & fresh bedding program.  For anyone interested in experiencing the best downtown Chicago has to offer without breaking the bank, the prices are impressively affordable.  It is a great overall hotel for business and leisure travelers alike.
