Chairman’s Travelogue: Richard’s Blog
My most recent trip took me back to London last month. I went with my 11-year-old granddaughter Julia for the Olympics! We saw a few of the men’s swimming events and went to the West End to see Wicked. It was a great trip.
I’m pleased to announce the start of a new blog series to keep track of the latest hotel news and share it with you. These are new builds, recently renovated hotels, and other outstanding accommodations that have popped up on my radar.
Tucson’s Miraval Resort, a destination retreat in the Santa Catalina Mountains just outside of the city, has been in the news lately. It was named one of the world’s top destination spa resorts by Travel+Leisure and was even featured on the Dr. Oz Show. The resort features activities and treatments meant to heal and inspire, which include yoga, meditation and fitness classes, wellness lectures and workshops, and a high ropes course. The spa is newly renovated, making for an even better experience.
And in other hotel renovation news, two Paris hotels are to be closed for upgrades: The Ritz Paris (August 1) and the Hotel de Crillon (November 1). They will both be closed for two years for refurbishments that will keep them current and competitive with Paris’ newer luxury hotel choices.
Finally, the Park Hyatt Sydney has reopened after a comprehensive transformation. The 21-year-old hotel now has the best modern amenities, private balconies, and Australian artwork, making it a great place to stay for sightseeing in Sydney and one I recommend.
