Bienvenue au Paradis: Reefs & Beaches of St. Barths

Although many people don’t think about St. Barth as a scuba destination, it hosts a variety of marine life and crystal-clear waters, making it a great place to dive. From Gustavia Harbor, the capital of St. Barth, there is a myriad of dive sites just 5-10 minutes away.

St. Barths is a volcanic island fully encircled by shallow reefs, creating a safe habitat for a variety of aquafauna, from anemones, urchins and sea cucumbers to eels, turtles, fish, and crabs. This also keeps the water warmer throughout the year. Enormous groves of coral have recovered since recent tropical storms, inviting divers and snorkelers to explore.

The most spectacular dives are around Pain de Sucre, an islet off Gustavia harbour, or around a small cape, l’Ane Rouge, off Colombier bay. Through Cuvee Escapes, a FROSCH Preferred supplier, you can set up a private dive or snorkel trip through a concierge team who knows the best dive spots around the island.

Looking for more sun and sand than deep blue sea? St. Barths is home to some of the top-rated beaches, as ranked by Fodor’s. Anse de Grande Saline is the perfect beach for lounging and offers more swimable surf. But you won’t have to go far to find another spectacular stretch of sand.
