Agent Review: Club Med Sandpiper Bay
Just an hour’s drive from West Palm Beach, Club Med Sandpiper Bay—the only all-inclusive resort in the U.S.—is just like a summer camp for the whole family!
I went there last month for a travel agent site inspection/fam trip and was impressed with the property as a fun retreat for families with kids. The resort recently underwent a $25 million dollar renovation, most of which went in to improvements to the grounds and outdoor areas. There’s no end to the activities here, from tennis and golf to arts and crafts to water sports (for an additional fee). There’s even a “Circus School” where you can try your hand at the flying trapeze, juggling, and tightrope walking! For families that love golf, there are about 16 gold courses in the area, including one owned by Club Med. And the brand new L’Occitane spa is wonderful for some quiet relaxation time.
As nice as the outdoor facilities, including the redone pool, are, the rooms themselves could use a bit of work. The rooms are spacious with some great views available but not luxurious and in need of a bit of a sprucing up. It’s a good thing there’s so much to do here because the rooms don’t really lend themselves as a place you want to hang out in.
That said, there are two things that Club Med Sandpiper Bay does really well. The whole staff was incredibly kind and friendly which really helps improve any vacation experience. And the food was AMAZING. For each meal there is a buffet—do not miss out on the white chocolate and dark chocolate bread!! On Tuesdays there is all-you-can-eat Alaskan King Crab legs: phenomenal! Plus, Restaurant Soleil has a theme that changes each night, so there’s always something new to try.
All in all, it’s not the most luxurious destination, but this is the ideal place for a fun family getaway. With all-inclusive per-person pricing that includes round-trip airfare, meals, drinks, snacks, and most activities, Club Med is a great way to getaway this summer!
